- Your home is where you spend a large portion of your life, but decorating it can seem like a puzzle at times. You may be wondering which piece goes where, but putting the pieces together in the right order can create a lovely home. Arranging pictures and frames on various walls can create a distinct look that draws attention to the photo if you put the picture in the right area. Placement is essential.
- You can make any wall the focal point of a room, but choose wisely. The right wall should be distinct with no windows or built-in shelves. Paint this wall a solid color that matches the room. For instance, if the furniture is French country white, then you want to select a pastel shade like light purple or yellow. Paint this wall and leave the other walls white.
- Choose frames that match the room as well. You do not want cherrywood picture frames on a pastel wall. The frames should be iron or be a close match to the color of the furniture in the room. More than three large frames on a wall can become too cluttered. Choose a larger framed photo or picture to go in the center and then place two other much smaller frames on each side. You can also place the small frames beneath and on top of the larger frame. Just be sure to space the frames a few inches apart and check to make sure they are even. You can find a carpenter's level at your local hardware store.
- Hallway walls can be another area to put family photos. As guests walk to other rooms or the restroom they can stop and see your favorite family photos. Place these frames in the center of the wall and only put a few frames on each wall. Generally three or four frames is all you need depending on the size of your walls.
- You can also dress up a frame to create a romantic feel. This is excellent if your bedroom is lavish. Wrap fake wire flowers or roses around the edges of the frame. These flowers can purchased at craft stores or online. The stems should be made from flexible write that can easily wrap around the edges of the frame.
