- 1). Measure the length of your attic wall from top to bottom, and subtract 5 in.
- 2). Measure the entire width of one wall of your attic.
- 3). Determine the number of insulation strips you will need by dividing the width of the wall by the width of your roll of insulation, and subtract 2 in.
- 4). Cut the number of insulation strips at the length you will need from the roll and lay them down at the base the wall.
- 1). Position the first insulation strip tight against the left side of the wall 3 in. from the top, and staple it into the stud.
- 2). Staple the next insulation strip into the nearest stud, overlapping the first insulation strip by 2 in. while continuing to leave a 3-in. gap at the top.
- 3). Continue applying insulation to the entire wall and then continue the next wall from the first preparation step until the entire attic has been insulated.
