- 1). Connect two controllers to your video game console. Insert the end of each controller into the console using the controller ports at the front of the device. Insert the "Need for Speed: Underground" game disc into the disc drive.
- 2). Select one of the available racing game modes for multiple players. Highlight "Circuit" to start a standard race around a track for multiple laps. Highlight "Knockout Mode" to start a special version of circuit races, where the slowest person is removed after a lap. Highlight "Sprint Mode" to compete in a short drag race or select "Drifting" to compete in a drift race on a specialized track. Press "Start" to select the desired race.
- 3). Select the cars that will be used in the race. "Need for Speed: Underground" includes dozens of vehicles for players to use in races. The car selection screen will be split into two sections for players to select vehicles at the same time. Use the controller's directional pad to scroll between available vehicles. Press "Start" to select the desired vehicle. Once both cars are selected, the game will transition to the "Select Course" screen.
- 4). Choose additional settings for the race. On the "Select Course" screen, navigate to other available courses to race on by pressing left and right on the directional pad. Change the number of laps to race in the "Laps" settings section, if applicable. Press "Start" to finish setting up the game and start racing.
