- There are a few styles of boot racks. The two most common are peg boot racks which hold your boots upside down by storing them on pegs, and hung boot racks which hold your boots off the ground. The peg boot rack is the easier of the two to make at home, and hanging boot racks are often best bought ready-made.
- Wood is a common material used for the base of the boot rack. With peg boot racks, PVC pipes compose the pegs, and drilled holes secure them tightly to the wooden base. You may want to protect the boot rack from water and dirt, which will require waterproofing solution.
- You can personalize a home-made boot rack to fit in any predetermined space. This could be indoors or outdoors, and can fit in a tight spot that a store-bought one might not fit in. Similarly, a homemade boot rack can store as many, or as few, boots as necessary.
