- 1). Turn the D500 off, then flip it over and pull up on the bottom of the battery to remove it.
- 2). Remove the four screws that were revealed when you removed the battery. Then pull up on the bottom of the back cover and pull it away from the phone. You may have to pull hard to get the top of the cover to separate.
- 3). Place your pry stick underneath the circular speaker located just above the control board. Pull up on the stick to pop the speaker free.
- 4). Insert your pry stick underneath the control board and pull up to pop the board free from the clasps on the side of the housing. Turn the board over to reveal the ribbon connector. Pull up on the clasp on top of the connector, then pull the ribbon cable out of the connector and remove the board from the phone.
- 5). Remove the six small screws that connect the slider assembly to the LCD housing and were revealed when you removed the control board. Then pull up on the slider assembly to remove it from the LCD housing.
- 6). Remove the two screws on the silver part of the LCD assembly. Then remove the screw covers from the two corners of the housing near the camera, and remove the two screws you find there as well.
- 7). Place your pry stick between the back housing, from which you just removed the screws, and the front housing. You will find the opening on either side of the LCD housing along the edges of the rear side. Push out on your pry stick to free the housing from its connectors, then do the same thing on the other side. Then pull the back housing off the LCD assembly.
- 8). Pull up on the earpiece speaker just above the LCD board to loosen it. Then place your pry stick underneath the LCD board and pry it up, removing it from the housing.
- 9). Locate the small connector that wraps around from the LCD to the back of the LCD control board. It will be located just next to one of the two large holes in the board. Turn your soldering iron up to 800 degrees, or put it on high, depending on your iron. Hold the connector with your tweezers, then tap the metal end of the connector with the iron while you are pulling up up the tweezers to free the connector.
