- 1). Choose the right material for the job you plan to do. If you want to repair something small, use mortar. Any cracks deeper than two inches and wider than the palm of your hand require concrete to overcome the degradation brought forth by time.
- 2). Mix your concrete or mortar in a bucket according to the instructions on the sack you buy. You may make the process much faster by using a mixer bit on a 1000 watt drill.
- 3). Chisel out some of the material around the crack with an undercut so that the bottom of the chiseled area opens up more than the top, making the top close in around the underside.
- 4). Pour some PVA glue into a plastic container and mix it with water according to the ratio stated in the container that your glue came in.
- 5). Apply a thin layer of the PVA glue you mixed on the crack in the concrete.
- 6). Throw in a small batch of your mixed concrete or mortar into the crack using an edge trowel. Repeat this process of the crack does not fill.
- 7). Level the surface down using a float at an acute angle from the floor. Remove excess material you might have poured in by accident by propping your float perpendicular to the floor and sweeping the material up with your edge trowel. You use the float as a sort of stopper for the material to gather up on the trowel for disposal.
- 8). Repeat all the steps for every crack you have in the floor. Allow at least 24 hours to pass in order for the concrete or mortar to cure.
