An Overview of Microsoft"s E3 Conference

At the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), the three major console manufacturers give a press conference every year. Every press conference they reveal big games and hardware for consumers to play with when it comes out. The first out of the console manufacturers that normally goes is Microsoft and they are known to have big exclusives every single time.

This year Microsoft had a lot to announce. They started off their conference showing off the next installment of the Call of Duty franchise and announced that the downloadable content for the game will come first to the Xbox 360. This game, Call of Duty: Black Ops, is a big announcement because millions of players play it around the world. After showing this off, Microsoft moved onto showing off big exclusives like Halo: Reach, and Fable III, and a secret game by Crytek. These are big games that have been heavily anticipated so it is no wonder that Microsoft showed them off.

After showing off some hardcore games, Microsoft announced a partnership with ESPN for Xbox Live. This deal brings content from ESPN 360 to your console. This works great for those sports fans out there that also happen to have an Xbox 360.

After the ESPN announcement, we got a closer look at Kinect for the Xbox 360. Kinect is Microsoft's answer to motion control technology in gaming. Although you might be thinking since it is the Xbox 360, it will only support hardcore games. Well Microsoft revealed many casual games for it at the conference. Games like Kinect Adventures and Kinectimals were shown. These games take you on wonderful adventures and let you play with a virtual pet. After showing the casual games, we got to see Kinect's support with Forza Motorsport 3 from the most popular Xbox racing series.

After all these big announcements, we finally got the biggest and that is the Xbox 360 Slim. The Xbox 360 Slim sports a sleeker black look than the older Xbox 360 models, is the same price, has a bigger hard drive, and internal WiFi support. Not only that, but you can also buy it now and Microsoft gave everyone in the audience a free model of it. This is very nice for the journalists that were there.

Overall, Microsoft had a successful E3 press conference. They seem to have great ones every year so expect even bigger announcements from them next year.
