• While talking is what everyone hears, writing is an integral part of the job. A good sportscaster will need to outline his broadcast before it airs. Some sportscasters read what they have written out loud.
  
  

Speaking

• A good sportscaster must speak well and in most instances, use proper grammar.
  
  

Analyzing

• In most instances, becoming a sports broadcaster requires more than an ability to talk about and report on sports. You will also need to give an expert opinion on what you are covering from time to time.
  
  

Become an Authority

• Sports broadcasters should be an expert--or, at the very least, surround themselves with experts--in at least one sport. Those who are knowledgeable in more than one increase their chances of finding employment.
