How to Seal a Cement Basement Floor

    • 1). Sweep and vacuum the floor to remove any dust or dirt. Patch any cracks or holes with cement mortar and allow it to dry.

    • 2). Fill your garden sprayer with water, pump it up and wet down the entire basement cement floor. This step will aid the adhesion of the sealing compound.

    • 3). Empty any excess water from your sprayer and fill it with a silicate-based sealing compound.

    • 4). Spray the sealer liberally onto the wet cement floor. Cover the entire surface with the sealer, refilling the sprayer as needed to complete the job. Allow the sealer to dry thoroughly before placing furniture or carpeting on top of it.
