The park covers only a few square miles, making it very small in comparison to most state parks. However Grizzly Creek manages to fit quite a bit in that small space while still maintaining relative quiet and seclusion throughout. The dense redwood forest provides excellent scenery as well as a feeling of privacy amongst the more than 30 tent spaces in the campground. Campers will find an array of activities to enjoy throughout the campground as well. The Van Duzen River flows alongside the park and offers kayaking, fishing and swimming almost year-round in the calm waters. A picnic area is also open to all guests and nearly five miles of trails wind through the picturesque forests.

parks.ca.gov/?page_id=421 - Albee Creek is located just south of Pepperwood in the massive, well-known and often-visited Humboldt Redwood Forest. The campground is perhaps the most popular and most well-maintained of all state-run campgrounds in that particular forest area. Albee Creek offers about 40 tent sites throughout the surrounding forestry area. Most of the sites are well-shaded and rest at the feet of the massive redwoods that dominate the area, however a select few of the sites lie in the campground's exposed grass meadow. The biggest draw to Albee Creek Campground is the sheer amount of outdoor activities you'll find in the area. White water rafting is available year-round in the Mattole River, and a quick walk will take you to several nearby creeks that offer much calmer waters for wading or a relaxing swim. Both hiking and mountain biking are available on one of several trails that circle the campground and take you through the scenic forest and to several lakes that offer fishing, canoeing and swimming.
