- Set up an obstacle course that is about 50 feet long. Find five or six large obstacles that kids can hide behind. Choose two kids to throw wet sponges (these can alternate each time). Put one of the kids at the halfway point and the other at the end of the course. The object is to get through the obstacle course without getting hit by a wet sponge. The kid at the halfway point can only try to hit the runners for the first half of the course. Assign point values for making it to each obstacle and keep score. The person with the highest score at the end wins.
Wear out your kids by playing a game called "dead ant". Set up a large boundary. This is a version of tag. Have one or more than one person who is "it". When someone is tagged, they lay down on the floor like a dead ant-with their arms and feet straight up in the air. The other players can help them get up by four of them each touching a limb. Each person can be a dead ant three times before they are out (and it's up to the kids to keep track to know when they are out). If you have more than one person who is "it", the game is more hectic and challenging since the kids have to choose who to run from at any given moment.
Divide the kids into two teams for another fun camp activity. The teams then choose one person to be the monster in the middle. The monster sits blindfolded and holds the keys to his treasure chest in front of him. The rest of the kids on their team sit in a circle around the monster. The other team chooses one player, the trespasser, to enter the circle to try to get the keys. The monster has bean bags to throw at the trespasser. The monster's teammates help the monster by telling him where the trespasser is in the circle. The trespasser gets three ropes that are tied into a circle. If the trespasser puts these over the monster's head, the monster is deactivated and can't throw anymore bean bags. This game requires less energy than the previous two but is lots of fun.
