A Fan"s Guide to Progressive Field

Progressive Field (formerly Jacobs Field), opened in 1994 in downtown Cleveland, is the home of the Cleveland Indian's baseball team. The sleek, modern facility offers lots of seats close to the field, club seating with food and beverage service, ample restrooms and concessions, and easy access to all parts of town. In short, it's a baseball fan's stadium.

Location:

Progressive Field, located in downtown Cleveland at the convergence of Ontario, Carnegie Blvd, and E 9th Street, opened in 1994.

The state-of-the-art stadium is adjacent to Quicken Loans Arena and is a short walk to Tower City, Public Square, and dozens of downtown restaurants and bars.

Game Days:

Attending a Cleveland Indians game at Progressive Field is one of the city's highlights. Here are some tips to help you enjoy your visit:
  • Seating - Progressive Field offers three levels of seating plus bleachers beneath the scoreboard.
  • Security - All visitors to Progressive Field must go through a brief security check. In addition, no bags larger than 16x16x8" are permitted. Visitors cannot bring alcohol into the park.

Facilities at Progressive Field:
  • Concessions - Food and Beverages concessions are available throughout the park, selling beer, food, sodas, and snacks.
  • Kidsland - Located near section 117 on the main concourse, Kidsland gives kids the opportunity to play with a variety of toys and visit with the team mascot, Slider. There's even a kid's concession and kid's team shop. All kids must be accompanied by an adult.

  • Restrooms - There are 41 restrooms located throughout the ballpark. All are wheelchair accessible.
  • Smoking - In keeping with Ohio's ban on smoking, Progressive Field is a non-smoking facility.
  • Rainouts - A game is considered complete after 4 1/2 innings are played or five innings if the Indians are losing. In addition, no inning can begin after 1am. Hold on to your original ticket for rainout game tickets.

Club Seats and the Terrace Club:

The Club Seats, located along the first base line, offer spacious mezzanine level seating with continuous wait service. The menu features sandwiches, snack items, and non-alcoholic beverages.

The Terrace Club at the far third base corner is a members-only club that offers table seating, an upstairs bar, and fine upscale cuisine. The Club is also available for private parties and events on non-game days.

Tours of the Park:

Tours of Progressive Field are offered most days from May 1 until September 30. The one-hour tours depart from the Cleveland Indians team shop and visit the bull pen, a party suite, the dugout, the press box, the indoor batting cages, and the visitors' clubhouse. Tickets are available via Ticketmaster, the Indians box office, or any Indians team shop. All proceeds go to Cleveland Indians charities.

Parking :

Ample parking is available in and around Progressive Field. The closest lots and the covered parking lots charge around $10 - $12. Two to three blocks away, the rate is about half of that. If you go very early to the game, metered parking is available on the streets, but be careful, some metered parking is prohibited on game days.

Some area restaurants, such as the Great Lakes Brewing Company, just over the river offer shuttles to and from the park.
