About the Chicago Flower & Garden Show:
With a legacy in Chicago that can be traced to 1847, the Chicago Flower & Garden Show welcomes roughly 60,000 visitors to Navy Pier annually. The only consumer event of its kind in the Midwest, the Chicago Flower & Garden Show includes practical advice for Chicagoland lawns, gardens, and green spaces. From window boxes and containers, to rows of vegetables, stylized gardens, and rooftop retreats, the Chicago Flower & Garden Show offers an innovative and diverse array of new ideas for gardening.
When is the Chicago Flower & Garden Show:
Saturday, March 10, through Sunday, March 18, 2012; 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday; Sundays, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Preview Benefit will be held 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., Friday, March 9.
Admission to the Chicago Flower & Garden Show:
Weekday admission is $15 when tickets are purchased online; $17 at the box office. Weekend admission is $17 and $19 respectively. Tickets for children ages 4 through 12 are $5. Discounted parking at Navy Pier and group rates and tours also are offered. Tickets for the Preview Event on March 9 are $125 per person. Proceeds benefit local sustainable charities.

Special displays at the Chicago Flower & Garden Show will include the a Fleur-de-Lis Garden, where you’ll find the grandeur of the French Quarter in early spring, including moss-draped oaks lining flagstone pathways, eclectic containers with unusual tropical and annual plants, and tropicals, including the whip-smart elephant ear Alocasia ‘Stingray’ and broad-leaved banana plant, and the White House Let’s Move Garden inspired by the vegetable beds planted at the White House in 2009, the first at the presidential mansion since Eleanor Roosevelt’s World War II Victory Garden.
Other displays to keep on your radar include Tulips à la mode with more than 50 varieties of tulips in full bloom and the Hope & Healing Garden reflecting the spirit of those who battle cancer. Rooftop and elevated gardens will be unique to the Chicago Flower & Garden Show in 2012, including high-rise display gardens for Midwestern design inspiration; the Days of Our Lives Horton Garden featuring props direct from the set and cast members who will participate in an interactive panel and fashion show; and Oprah’s Oak – a replica of the real thing, which will be planted in the Navy Pier Gateway Garden on Arbor Day 2012.
