How to Care for Leather Floors

    • 1). Wax the floor immediately after installing it. This will give it shine, fill in some of the seams and protect the tiles. Use three coats of leather wax and buff after each one.

    • 2). Place a mat outside of the room and encourage people to wipe their feet before entering. Leather does not do well with unventilated mats or rubber-lined mats, but you also need a way to prevent dirt and mud from being tracked onto the floor.

    • 3). Clean up any spills, blotting not wiping to avoid scratches. It is important to do this immediately so the liquid or food will not stain or sink into the leather.

    • 4). Vacuum debris weekly with a soft-bristled vacuum head. This will prevent any deep or noticeable scratches caused by debris scraping across the floor.

    • 5). Wipe the floor with a damp cloth once a month to pick up any extra spills you may have missed. Wax monthly or as needed to maintain shine.
