How to Defrost a Refrigerator

    • 1). Turn off the refrigerator freezer controls when the frost builds up to extend at least a quarter-inch from the freezer walls, ceiling and floor.

    • 2). Remove all food from the freezer compartment.

    • 3). Place a pan of warm water into the freezer compartment and close the door.

    • 4). Remove the pan when all of the frost has melted. Empty the drip tray and wipe down the freezer compartment until it's dry.

    • 5). Turn the temperature control back on, and replace the food you removed in Step 2.
