- 1). Use a level to make sure your Honeywell thermostat is level to the wall. An unlevel thermostat can't properly measure temperature because the heat anticipator won't read correctly. If your thermostat isn't level, adjust it as needed so it sits level on the wall.
- 2). Remove the cover of your thermostat.
- 3). Find the heat anticipator, located in the middle of your thermostat. It has numbers ranging from 1.5 to 0.1. Look for the word "Longer," and you'll find the heat anticipator adjustment.
- 4). Move the heat anticipator lever one calibration mark closer to the word "Longer" if your furnace cuts on and off too much during the day. If your temperature is too high or too low before the furnace cuts on, move the heat anticipator lever one calibration mark away from the word "Longer."
- 5). Allow your HVAC unit to run several hours while the thermostat runs to make the necessary adjustment. Check to see if you notice an improvement.
- 6). Repeat if necessary until your Honeywell thermostat operates properly.
