- 1). Measure the length of the space to determine where your bend is needed using the measuring tape. Mark the bend spot on the conduit with the pencil.
- 2). Calculate the angle of the bend a radius tool or angle calculator. Set the conduit in the Gardner Bender frame with the mark on the conduit lined up with the arrow on the bender frame or bending shoe.
- 3). Set the angle gauge on the bender to zero to create a reference point. Lock the conduit in place by inserting the pivot shoe and a pivot pin behind the bend. Insert a pivot pin in the correct pipe bending hole.
- 4). Face the bender to watch the optic angle gauge, and push the handle of the tool until the angle gauge is level with the shoe.
- 5). Remove the pivot pins from the pivot shoe and bending holes. Insert a pivot pin in the pipe ejection hole and remove the pivot shoe. Gently slide the conduit out.
