At the funeral home, Bo reads the note from Andre to Roman. “So sad to hear of your untimely death. Andre.” Anna wonders if Andre would really try to kill Roman. Bo affirms it’s a possibility, but at least they have evidence of a prior threat if Andre tries anything. Tony notes that evidence and witnesses have a tendency to disappear when they go up against his family. Anna pleads with Roman not to go anywhere alone.
Roman suspects something isn’t right about the situation. John and Marlena fans get a special treat today as they are finally seen again and walk into the funeral home with Lucas. John notes that being dead suits Stefano, but it’s too bad it won’t last. The gang informs the threesome that Andre sent Roman flowers, hinting about Roman’s impending death. “What a sick man he is!” exclaims Marlena. Roman and John briefly converse about Andre’s tactics before Marlena asks to speak to Roman alone. “Macho stuff aside, are you alright being a target for Andre?” asks Marlena. Roman confirms he is, because it means Sami isn’t.
John notes to Bo how he made a guy taking a nap look like a dead man, as he refers to Stefano. Bo reveals that Stefano’s hooked up to IVs at the bottom of the casket. He goes over the plan to buy an empty casket at the cemetery after the funeral. “And this pile of guts gets transferred to a clinic out of town,” adds Bo.
Abe and Lexie arrive and are greeted by Hope. Benjy is wheeled in behind them.
He approaches his father and asks Lexie if he’s really dead, then breaks down and sobs. Lexie consoles a distraught Benjy and advises him not to target the obsessions which Stefano had that destroyed their family. Benjy states that he came for revenge and expresses his hatred for Stefano. “Don’t give into hatred Benjy,” urges Lexie. She worries about losing her kind, loving brother.
Lucas approaches Tony and Anna and wonders why Benjy is so upset after what Stefano did to him. “Because Stefano has the ability to make you feel that within seconds, you’re about to get the greatest prize in the world,” replies Tony. “Like the Hope diamond,” chimes Anna. Lucas is suspicious as to why EJ’s not Stefano’s chief mourner. Tony hints that EJ has something else to occupy his mind. Lucas asks Tony if EJ is with Sami. Tony implies that he is, then walks off. Marlena then invites Lucas to join her and John for the funeral, but Lucas insists he needs to get out of there and makes a beeline for the hospital.
Anna approaches Hope and notes Roman’s brave reaction to Andre’s note, finding Roman’s bravery sexy. “So now you have standards?” snarks Hope. Anna suggests she’ll go by Roman’s place and cook him a nice dinner when it’s over.
Roman and Bo briefly go over the plan with Willie to drive the empty coffin to the cemetery. John joins them and summons them to get seated for the funeral. Marlena and Hope are stunned to see Grandpa Shawn make an entrance.
At the Brady Pub, Kate yells to the persistent pounder outside the door that they’re closed. She yells for Shawn, then Andre walks in and taunts her. She warns Andre that she’s not there alone. A frightened Kate insists that Roman hates her, and thus won’t come to the pub if she calls him. Andre isn’t buying it and warns her not to test his patience with lies. He blasts her for sending Sami and Lucas to the health club instead of meeting him herself. She tries to say it wasn’t her choice, but then he yells in her face. “Bring me Roman,” he daunts. She shakes her head and refuses to help Andre hurt her ex. He warns her that she just made her last mistake as he puts his hand around her neck. Shawn then comes out and fights with Andre as Kate gets on the phone and frantically pleads for help. Andre ends up nailing Shawn and smashing a chair on him, then grabs Kate from behind and puts a knife to her throat. “Hang up, or I’ll slice you from ear to ear,” he threatens in a daunting voice. He orders her to help him move Shawn into the freezer.
Meanwhile, Belle is just outside the pub trying to get in. Andre laughs as he imagines Grandpa Shawn opening the freezer door and finding his namesake dead. An unsettled Kate pours herself a drink when Belle enters. Andre greets Belle as Kate implores him not to hurt Belle, since she’s not part of the vendetta. Andre notes she’s engaged to a Brady and has given birth to one. A frightened Belle asks what he’s done to Shawn. Kate reveals that Andre’s locked Shawn in the freezer, then hits Andre over the head with a bottle, knocking him to the ground. Belle then makes a frantic call to Bo and alerts him that Shawn’s in trouble. Andre grabs Kate and demands the phone from Belle. He boasts that he has Shawn and Belle and warns Bo to do exactly as he says. He orders Bo to leave the funeral home without telling anyone and look for Elvis, claiming that EJ will give him a clue. Bo asks where his son is. “Somewhere very, very cold,” hints Evil Andre. Bo then asks where Elvis is. Andre surmises he’s at the hospital trying to build an alibi. After he hangs up with Bo, he grabs Belle and orders both women to the freezer, implying that Belle will get to join her fiancé.
Belle is later locked in the freezer and attends to Shawn, encouraging him to get up. He slowly comes to as Belle checks the lever of the freezer. Shawn surmises that Andre must’ve jammed the lock from the outside. Belle wonders if his grandparents are there. Shawn says they went out and asks where Claire is. Belle reveals she’s with Philip. Shawn admits he’s glad for once that their daughter is with his rival. Belle brings up Tulsa and states that Philip slept on the couch. She professes her love to Shawn and apologizes for causing him grief. Shawn admits he couldn’t stop imagining Philip trying to put the moves on her, which is why he came to Tulsa. She jokes that if he were spending every spare minute with Mimi, she’d be on a plane too. She claims she was only helping Philip because it was the right thing to do, then professes that Shawn’s the man she loves. They share a brief kiss and snuggle close to each other. Belle then becomes frantic as Shawn begins to display signs of hypothermia.
