While nurse Leyla Mir fell victim to the bioballs on General Hospital in 2009, the actress who played her for two years, Nazanin Boniadi, has moved on, continuing not only her career but her human rights activism. The 30-year-old native of Tehran, besides being drop-dead gorgeous, is a woman of great accomplishment. Raised in London, she studied contemporary drama at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts after getting her Bachelor's Degree in Biological Sciences from University of California, Irvine.

Boniadi decided to pursue acting rather than a career in medicine.

Before appearing on General Hospital: Night Shift and General Hospital, director Mike Nichols chose the beautiful young actress for a role in the 2007 film Charlie Wilson's War. In 2010, she was cast in Oscar-winner Paul Haggis' film, The Next Three Days, and she appeared on two television shows: two episodes of 24, The Deep End, Hawthorne, and a short film, Diplomacy.

In 2011, Boniadi was cast as Nora, a love interest for Neil Patrick Harris on How I Met Your Mother, a role which continues in 2014.. She has also appeared in CSI: Crime Scene Investigation and the series Rochelle and Best Friends Forever.

In 2013, she won a role on Homeland as Fara Sherazi.  She has completed two films for release in 2014, Shirin in Love and Desert Dancer.

Boniadi is a human rights activist and the Official Spokesperson for Amnesty International. She has appeared on international TV and radio to champion the rights of those suppressed in other countries.

In October 2012 she was featured in a Vanity Fair cover story about actor Tom Cruise.
