- To record music with Digidesign's Pro Tools software, users must also have an Mbox audio interface compatible with the specific version of Pro Tools. Musicians can then plug their instruments or microphones into the interface and record with it.
- While editing recorded or imported music tracks, Pro Tools users have many different options. A toolbar allows musicians to make changes to the volume of each track, pan to the left or right side of the speakers, and alter sound effects. Pro Tools users can even fix pitch problems in instrumental or vocal tracks.
- Pro Tools users can supplement their own recordings with samples and loops provided by Digidesign. Pro Tools also lets musicians add tracks using simulated instruments available in the program.
