- Razene is the generic version of cetirizine hydrochloride, which is used world-wide under the brand names Virlix, Zyrtec and Cetirizina Merck. It is effective in preventing the symptoms of sneezing, itching or red watery eyes, coughing and a runny or stuffy nose in conditions such as hay fever, allergic conjunctivitis and other allergic conditions. Razene is fast acting. It works within 10 to 20 minutes after it's taken, and its effect can last up to 24 hours. Razene is available in 10 mg tablets.
- Side effects of Razene may include dry mouth, nausea and headache along with tiredness dizziness and drowsiness. These symptoms usually disappear as your body adjusts to the medication. Razene rarely causes dizziness or drowsiness; however, you should wait to see how this medication affects your alertness before you drive or work with heavy machinery. Contact your doctor for advice if any of these symptoms should occur and persists.
- Other side effects may include blurred vision, agitation and wakefulness. Other symptoms that might be experienced are blurred vision, impotence or erectile dysfunction, and difficulty passing urine. Contact your doctor for advice if you experience any of these symptoms.
- An allergic reaction is a serious medical emergency. Symptoms may include a rash or hives with itching, along with swelling of the face, mouth and tongue or throat. In addition, there maybe wheezing, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, and a fast or irregular heart beat. Seek immediate emergency medical care and attention if you should experience any of these symptoms.
- Discuss your medical history with your doctor and any medications you may be taking, including herbal products and over-the-counter drugs, before taking this medication. Medications such as muscle relaxants, high blood pressure pills and anti-depressants may interact with Razene. Inform your doctor if you are pregnant or breast-feeding and if you have epilepsy, kidney disease or heart problems before taking Razene.
