Obesity has become one of the number one issues being addressed by our medical community.
When the average person looks at weight lose, they assume it means joining a gym and hiring a trainer.
Don't fall into the trap of believing that is your only option.
All exercises that can assist in your weight loss can be done in the comfort of your own home or on the track at your local high school.
The easiest form of exercise is, simply, to take a walk.
To start with there is no need to feel like you have to put a time limit on how fast you walk.
The more you walk, the faster you will walk.
There is nothing like talking a walk to remove some of the stress of the day.
Walking is a two way street.
If you walk in the morning, you will feel invigorated during the day and if you choose to walk in the evening, it is the perfect way to relax and push some of your daily stress out of your system.
Once you have built up your stamina and feel comfortable with walking at a brisk pace, you can move to jogging.
This is a great cardio work out.
When you start jogging, again, start slow.
As time passes you will be jogging longer and longer.
What better way to meet your neighbors than while you are out improving your health.
Who knows, maybe you could start a neighborhood group of walkers or runners.
Biking is another great way to burn calories.
Not only does the thought of exercise get masked, because you're actually having fun, it is both a great cardio workout and burns calories.
Total body workouts are great, but you need to remember that as you lose weight, certain areas of your body may require more attention than others.
Most people focus on the abdomen, as this seems to be the area that always shows rolls first.
At home, if you want a good workout for your mid section, try doing crunches.
You don't even need special equipment for them.
Simply lie on the floor and curl your torso up to meet your knees, alternating every other knee.
When you get this exercise down, you can add additional weights to your ankles and wrists.
For a good upper body workout, grab some dumbbells and simple curl your arm up to your shoulder.
If you don't have access to a set of dumbbells, small water bottles filled up work as a great replacement.
Alternate arms while keeping your knees slightly bent.
For your lower body, lunges are an excellent choice.
Simply take a big step forward until your body is close to the ground.
You may want to start with a smaller step and work into a larger one.
It is very important to keep the back straight at all times during this exercise.
This helps to not only make this exercise more effective but makes your more aware of good posture.
Exercise is good for the body whether you are trying to lose weight or not.
It releases a hormonal endorphin that enables a person to feel better overall.
