- 1). Cover the work surface with a layer of newspaper or a plastic tablecloth to make clean up easier at the end of the project.
- 2). Paint individual Popsicle sticks in the colors of your choice. You can paint every stick the same color or use an assortment of colors. Let the paint dry for a few hours before proceeding.
- 3). Arrange the Popsicle sticks into the shape of your choice. If you're making a trivet or wall hanging, lay a group of sticks right next to each other to form a rectangle or square. Run a line of glue across the back of two sticks that aren't in the rectangle and position them horizontally over the rectangle. The two glued sticks will hold the other Popsicle sticks in place.
- 4). Make a free-form shape out of the Popsicle sticks if you prefer. For example, you can stack and glue together the sticks as you see fit to make a piece of abstract sculpture art.
- 5). Embellish the trivet, wall hanging or sculpture with glitter, glued-on feathers or pipe cleaners. Add sequins if you'd like.
- 6). Glue a loop of string to the back side of the wall hanging. If the abstract shape is flat, try sliding it into a picture frame and displaying on a table top or hanging the frame on the wall.
