- 1). To make the bullet case, cut out a rectangular pattern based on the size of your bullets. Determine the bullet case's length and width by measuring the length and diameter of the bullets. Multiply the length of the bullet by four to determine the height of the rectangular pattern. Multiply the diameter of the bullet by the number of bullets you want to carry and add one inch to determine the length of the rectangular pattern.
- 2). Measure and mark the rectangle's dimensions on the leather. Carefully cut the rectangle out with sharp scissors.
- 3). Mark a dotted horizontal line down the length of the leather rectangle. Fold the leather along the dotted line and pin it in place.
- 4). Thread your sewing machine with polyester thread. Cotton thread breaks too easily. Replace the needle on your machine with a leather needle. Use the sewing machine to sew a straight stitch ¼ inch from the fold. Remove the pins as you sew to prevent sewing over a pin and breaking the needle or pin.
- 5). Lay a fabric elastic band down the length of the inside of one of the flaps. Center the band on the flap. Pin the elastic to the leather on either end of the case. Do not stretch the elastic as you pin it.
- 6). Use a sewing machine to sew the ends of the elastic to the ends of the leather case. Measure ½ inch from both ends of the case and mark it. Measure the length of a bullet from one mark and pin the elastic. Continue until you reach the other mark.
- 7). Use the sewing machine to sew the elastic to the leather at each mark or pin.
- 8). Trim any excess rubber band. Slide the bullets through the elastic loops and close the flap.
