About the Interviewee
Martin C. Burke, DO, FRCP, is Professor of Medicine, Interim Chief of Cardiology, and Director of the Heart Rhythm Center, University of Chicago, Chicago, Illinois. He is an expert in cardiac electrophysiology, and his clinical interests include the treatment of cardiac arrhythmias through intracardiac device and radiofrequency catheter ablation techniques, and the basic mechanisms and clinical applications of cardiac defibrillation. He is a regional expert in the management of infected cardiac devices. His major research interests involve ablative therapy for atrial fibrillation and ventricular tachycardia (VT), as well as the implantation and laser removal of therapeutic devices for cardiac arrhythmias.
