- According to the TSA, you will cruise through security faster and easier by packing an organized carry-on bag. Packing a layer of clothing, followed by a layer of electronics, followed by another layer of clothing, makes it easier for TSA staff to identify items in your carry on. Largest electronics should be packed on top.
- Seemingly innocent items may be deemed a danger on board an aircraft and are not allowed in carry-on baggage. These items can include sporting goods, self defense items and lighters. Usually, items that aren't allowed on board can be packed in your checked luggage. Remember the 3-1-1 rule, which applies to how much liquid you are allowed to have packed in your carry on bag. 3-1-1 means bottles of 3.4 oz. or less in a 1 quart size bag, and one bag per passenger.
- All passengers in the U.S. must provide acceptable identification before being allowed to fly. If a passenger cannot provide acceptable ID, for example, if their purse was stolen, they need to provide information to the TSA who will do proper document checking to verify the passenger's identity. Passengers without acceptable identification will also be subject to additional screening.
