- The French Pastry School is in downtown Chicago, next to Willis Tower. The school provides hands-on instruction to more than 1,000 students, and offers three major programs of study. Students can choose from L'Art de la Patisserie, a full-time pastry and baking certificate program lasting 24 weeks, L'Art du Gateau, a cake baking and decorating program taking 16 weeks or 3-to-5 day continuing education courses.
- Kendall College's Riverworks campus in Chicago offers culinary arts degrees, including an Associate of Applied Science in Baking and Pastry. The college boasts graduates who work at fine dining restaurants in the Chicago area and around the world. Kendall's Baking and Pastry certificate program includes 24 credits in cooking, sanitation, confectionary, cake decorating and other related skills.
- Le Cordon Bleu's pastry and baking program offers an Associate of Applied Science in Patisserie and Baking, including hands-on instruction in cake decoration, pastry making and other baking-related skills. The program includes an off-site externship in a bakery, restaurant or other establishment, giving students the chance to work alongside professionals in the field and get real world experience.
- In addition to degrees in media arts, fashion and design, the Illinois Institute of Art in Chicago offers a Professional Pastry and Baking certificate program. The program is designed for students who want to increase their basic knowledge or who already have a degree in another field. Courses include bread, pastry, confectionary and cake-making, as well as baking theory and science, safety and sanitation and basic cooking. Graduates are prepared to seek entry-level positions as pastry assistants or cooks.
