Loews New Orleans
The New Orleans outpost of this high-end chain is in a super-convenient location just steps from Harrah's Casino and a few blocks from the French Quarter, the Convention Center, and the city's streetcar lines (though beware: dogs aren't allowed to ride the streetcar). This location participates in the Loews Loves Pets program, which means that you and your pet are greeted with a goodie bag that includes food and water dishes, a mat, treats, and more. Room service also provides a pet-friendly menu.

Hotel Monteleone
If you're looking for a classic upscale New Orleans experience, you can't go wrong with the glamorous Hotel Monteleone in the heart of the French Quarter. This grande dame of New Orleans hotels was once the favorite of Tennessee Williams, William Faulkner, and Ernest Hemingway (all three of whom were avid dog owners, though there's no word on whether their pets accompanied them on their visits). It remains one of the city's finest hotels. Your pet will think so, too, when she's greeted with "Monte's Pet Package," which includes bowls, treats, a chew toy, and a pet-friendly guide to the city.
Fee: $100 plus an extra $25 per night

Staybridge Suites New Orleans
Staybridge Suites is a business-class chain, but the relatively large floor space you get for the price of the room (plus the fact that pets are welcome) makes this hotel a good choice for leisure travelers with pups in tow, as well -- they get some room to run around while you're inside. The location in the heart of the Central Business District is good and close to most major attractions.
Fee: $30 down plus $10 per night, capped at $150

Hilton St. Charles
This renovated 1920s-era hotel has everything going for it: it's a beautiful building, staff and service are wonderful, the hotel restaurant (John Besh's Lüke) is amazing, the location in the CBD near the French Quarter is fab, the St. Charles Avenue streetcar rolls by just past the front door, and they allow pets! (As long as the pet is under 75 lbs., that is.) It's an upscale choice, but a good one.

Best Western Plus St. Christopher
This Best Western Plus is a surprisingly character-filled hotel. Rooms are teeny-tiny but they have charming exposed brick walls and attractive New Orleans-focused decor. The location is good, right at the corner of Canal Street and Magazine Street, making the French Quarter literally across the street and putting all of the amenities of the Central Business District in close proximity. Though there's no grass for walking on the hotel property, Woldenberg Park (the riverfront area of the French Quarter) is about four pleasant blocks away. Animals must be under 80 lbs.

The Historic Streetcar Inn is a small bed-and-breakfast-ish hotel on St. Charles Avenue in the Lower Garden District that offers a number of pet-friendly rooms and suites. It's a low-cost option that might be a good choice for travelers on a budget.
