- Assign an area of the house to each person or, if you have too many guests for that, divide them up into teams. Set a 10-minute time limit and challenge everyone to decorate furiously, competing for the best design. Once the decorations are completed, ask everyone to cast a secret ballot vote to determine the winner; give the winning team a little prize. Since you will be supplying the decorations, you can achieve a unified look even with all of those different designers.
- This variation on the party classic involves Christmas decorating dares with no truths allowed. For each dare, challenge players to a Christmas-related prank. For example, dare a guest to dress up in a Santa suit and have her photograph taken in a public place; print out the photograph and hang it on your wall. Ask another to string up lights outside in nothing but a bikini and a Santa hat.
- Give every guest some prettily patterned paper and have them cut the paper into snowflakes. Once each guest has a snowflake, ask them to write a holiday-related secret on their snowflakes, like a secret holiday crush or a confession about peeking at presents. Hang the snowflakes on the tree and read out the secrets to the group, challenging attendees to match the guests with their secrets.
- Organize a scavenger hunt around the house. Make the clues Christmas-themed and hide an ornament in each new location. As the treasure, hide a big pile of Christmas cookies or candy. Enjoy the treats with your guests while you hang all of the clue ornaments on the tree.
