- Summer vacation season is still in full swing during the month of August, so use this as inspiration for your display ideas. Go with a tropical theme by setting up several beach chairs, an oceanic backdrop, some beach balls and maybe even some sand if you're not worried about the mess. Hang a large sun against the blue oceanic backdrop, and set up other props like sunscreen and beach umbrellas. You could also go with a more rustic theme, using tents, artificial campfires and a woodsy backdrop as your display.
- The first day of school is just around the corner when August rolls around, so feature this transition in your display. Recreate a school classroom with a desk, a blackboard, books and other critical school fixtures. You could also create a large cutout of a yellow school bus, or could simply focus your backdrop on the coming of fall with a variety of colorful artificial leaves.
- August is National Picnic Month, so create a delicious display based on a traditional American picnic lunch setup. Use an image of a park or garden as your backdrop, and then place a classic red and white gingham tablecloth on the floor of your display. Use relevant props like a picnic basket, plates, silverware and napkins. You could even sprinkle a few fake ants over the picnic cloth for fun. Set up your display items on the cloth, using the picnic basket and plates as areas to highlight the most important pieces.
- August is host to both National Peach Month and National Watermelon Day. Use these tasty treats as your display inspiration. You may certainly combine the two to create an especially fruity visual display, or you could feature a fruit individually. For instance, if you decide to use watermelons as your inspiration, create a backdrop that focuses on a red, green and black color scheme; incorporate products that are of the same color scheme if possible. For peaches, use pinks and oranges as your base color, and work in bits of bright green where you can. Display baskets or buckets of fresh fruits representing the theme you've chosen.
