- 1). Inspect the cable connection and make sure the cable color matches the color of the cable ports. If the ports do not match you are going to lose either audio or video signals.
- 2). Disconnect the device you have one end of the RCA cables connected to (leave the opposite end connected in the television). Plug the free ends of the cables into a different device, such as a DVD player or VCR. Power on the device and turn your TV to "Video" by pressing the "Video" button on the remote control. If the device displays on the screen you know the issue is with the now disconnected hardware and not the jacks.
- 3). Remove the RCA cables running from the television's RCA jacks to the hardware and plug in a different set of RCA cables. If you can see the content from the connected device displaced on the screen the issue is with the other set of cables and not the RCA jacks. If you still can't see anything on the screen the RCA ports are bad.
