- 1). Adjust the "Auto Off" timers if the display is turning off faster than you would like it to. This setting is found in the setup menu.
- 2). Select "On" for "Auto Info Display" if you are not seeing information on the display while shooting and would like to. If "Off" is selected, the information will not appear with the shutter button pressed halfway down. This option is found in the setup menu.
- 3). Delete files or folders on the memory card if the camera is slow to turn on or if you are unable to take photos.
- 4). Focus your lens manually or attach an AF-S or AF-I lens if the picture in the viewfinder is out of focus. If an AF-S or AF-I lens is not attached, you will be unable to use autofocus and will have to focus manually. If autofocus is turned on and is not working, you will be unable to take any photos.
- 5). Make sure that the memory card is firmly in place and formatted. You can format the memory card from the camera's menu. If the card is not full but is formatted and your camera is still malfunctioning, there could be a problem with the memory card.
- 6). Turn on noise reduction or lower ISO sensitivity if noise (random bright pixels, lines, or fog) appears your photos. Noise reduction is found in the shooting menu.
- 7). Clean your lens if smudges appear in photos. You can also perform an image sensor cleaning. This can be done automatically by using the "Clean image sensor" option in the setup menu. It is also possible to clean the image sensor manually; check your manual for instructions or bring your camera to a professional.
