The Bruce Lee Work out Routine was an fantastic feat, and it resulted in Bruce being able to do superhuman acts of strength. (See part two of this article if you wish to see a list of these accomplishments.) That Bruce Lee did it day after day, week after week, year after year, describes a human toughness that is amazing.
To start, one should understand that the Bruce Lee Workout Routine depended upon one simple idea. The mind is stronger than the body. In spite of doctor's advice, Bruce pushed himself through his daily work outs with an unbelievable zeal.
From seven to nine every day Bruce concentrated on abdominal exercises, flexibility, and running. From eleven to twelve he shifted over to weight lifting and cycling training. This was the core of his physical regimen, and he would practice more specialized techniques throughout the day.
During his weight training Bruce would do such things as squats, push ups, reverse curls, concentration curls, French presses, wrist curls and reverse wrist curls. He would concentrate on both fast twitch and slow twitch muscles. Interestingly, in the beginning Bruce believed that bigger was stronger, but later on, towards Bruce Lee's death, he came to believe otherwise.
He was a true believer when it came to ab exercises. He focused on the abdominals every work out, but he also did them at odd times throughout the entire day. People would often come to see him and find him doing sit ups, crunches, Roman Chair exercises, V ups and leg raises.
Another obsession with Bruce was running and cycling. He would run 2 - 5 miles, usually in 15 - 45 minutes. He would ride a stationary cycle for 45 minutes, usually doing 10 miles.
Some of Bruce Lee's secondary exercises were totally beyond belief. He loved jump roping, and after doing the stationary bike he would do as many as 800 jumps. He also loved to thrust his bare mitts into buckets of sand, and he would do as many as 500 repetitions of this ancient toughening drill.
To conclude, one should be careful when trying to do a physical regimen of this sort. Remember that even Bruce Lee started out at a lower level, he didn't just blast it and risk his body. Once you have worked up to the Bruce Lee Workout Routine, however, maybe you'll be ready to be a superstar, too.
