- 1). Remove all construction debris and waste material from the property and home. Paint, solvents and materials unfriendly to the environment should be taken to a proper waste disposal facility. Lumber scraps, glass and drywall can be recycled.
- 2). Sweep the garage, driveway, walkways and patio to remove surface soil. Hose down with a pressure washer or pressure nozzle and garden hose.
- 3). Vacuum the interior of the home. Be sure to clean the window sills, closets, cabinets and cupboards. Construction creates a lot of dust that permeates everything from carpeting to blinds and air vents. Be sure to clean light fixtures and ceiling fans. They are big dust collectors. Clean all surfaces carefully. Change the air conditioner filter if it was in use during construction.
- 4). Remove all gummed labels from windows. Use a scraper or label glue solvent, both available at building supply stores, to remove paper and glue. Wash exterior windows and all glass surfaces, then clean the interior surfaces.
