Drug Addiction Signs - How to Tell If Someone You Care About Uses Drugs

If you've ever faced a drug addiction or know someone that has, it can be a terrible ordeal to go through.
Most of us have never gone through it though and don't know the first thing about dealing with a drug addiction.
Whether it's yourself or a family member, there are certain signs of drug addiction that you can detect early on and later on as the addiction sets in.
In this article I'm going to discuss some of the most notable signs of drug addiction that you should be aware of.
First, how is the person's mood? If someone's been unusually moody for the past couple of months, or they're having depression and anger issues, this could be an early sign of drug addiction.
Approach the subject lightly if you're going to bring it up at all.
Yelling and threatening someone with a serious drug addiction could be detrimental to their well being, and could backfire on you if you're not careful.
Look for emotional instability as the one of the first signs of addiction.
Next, try to look for physical signs.
So called 'speed freaks' will twitch a lot and have jumpy movements.
Cocaine and other related drug addicts will scratch themselves a lot (you'll find this often with people addicted to crack cocaine).
Lack of motivation, response time, personal hygiene, and ambition are all big signs of physical drug addiction.
If your buddy's hand is shaking when he's grabbing a drink from the fridge, he most likely doesn't have Parkinson's Disease, but is developing some type of physical addiction.
Lastly, notice if they're always broke and always need money.
A lot of drug addicts are lazy, or their job doesn't pay them enough money to afford the high quality black market drugs that they need, so they'll rob places and steal from their loved ones.
If you've been stolen from recently, it might be one of your friends or family member's trying to pawn off your goods for some extra cash - to inevitably support their drug habit.
If this is happening right under your nose, you need to put an end to it immediately and make sure this people gets treatment.
Allowing behavior like this to continue just encourages the drug user to keep doing it.
In conclusion, there are many drug addiction signs out there.
Some are painfully obvious and same are not, and that's why you need to keep a watchful eye on those you suspect are abusing drugs.
Mood, emotion, mental and physical well being all play a role in your goal of trying to help someone stop abusing illicit substances.
Use your senses and be alert at all times if you suspect someone you love is abusing drugs.
