- 1). Cut two 2x2s to any size for the length, and two more to any size for width. Determine the size of the pot rack by measuring the area of the wall where it will be installed and decide what size rack will work best for the location.
- 2). Lay the pieces on a table or other flat surface and assemble a rectangle, then position one corner bracket in each corner. Put the tip of the awl into each hole in the corner bracket and hit it lightly with a hammer to start a pilot hole, then turn the screw until it is secure. Do this for all four brackets.
- 3). Measure the center of the rectangle horizontally from the inside of the 2x2s. Cut one 2x2 to this exact measurement and lay it in the center of the rectangle from step two, and install two T-brackets the same way as installing the corner brackets in step two.
- 4). With a pencil, mark the areas where the hook should be and the pot will hang. Test that all the pots will fit by keeping the rack flat and positioning the pots where the intended hooks will be--make any adjustments necessary.
- 5). Start a pilot hole with the awl at the pencil marks, and twist in the screw hooks.
- 6). Attach the rack to the wall using wall anchors. Drill a hole appropriate for the size of the anchor and push the anchor into the wall before twisting in the screw.
