The Proud Town of Hingham Needs Home Security Systems

The town of Hingham, Massachusetts takes a great deal of pride in its history and makes it an absolute to maintain its historical sites immaculately. It is recognized for its waterfront activities and commitment to tree care and planting. The townspeople do not like to show up in the news when it relates to bad news. As pristine as the town may be, it is also subject to a level of criminal activity, which could mostly be curbed in residential neighborhoods if home owners were proactive about installing home security systems.

Quite recently local law enforcement officers were called in to investigate break-ins reported at homes located in the same vicinity. The first unwanted intrusion happened on Main St. and was reported around 6:30 in the morning. The next report occurred about an hour later from Mill Lane.

The culprit was able to enter the first home through an unlocked slider door at the rear entrance of the home. Leaving doors unlocked is typical of home owners in small towns since many of them have lived there for many years without the fear of being burglarized. The thief took everything from one room in the house - a camera, a Nintendo DS game, a briefcase containing a laptop computer and a purse.

The second home was almost as easy to enter since a ground floor rear window had been left unlocked. The intruder(s) again removed items from one room – a purse and a cell phone. It was a “get in and get out” type of theft.

Both burglaries happened sometime during the night, so apparently the thief was roaming around the area scoping out homes easy to enter where people were sleeping soundly. With the growing trends in this type of crime where intruders rush into a home and take what they can within a few minutes, it is wise for people to keep their doors and windows on the lowers levels securely locked. It also makes sense to have a home security system installed [http://www.eagleprotection.com]. Motion detectors will trigger a loud decibel alarm and alert the authorities of suspicious activity. Often the police can arrive on the scene in time to apprehend the suspect before they have gone too far.
