- 1). Look on the back of the package for a Nintendo Wii game to find out what devices you need to play the game. Most games can be played using a regular Wii controller, dubbed the "Wii-mote" by Nintendo. Other games will require the use of a "nunchuk" attachment for the controller, while still others will require the use of a "classic" style controller that more closely resembles older Nintendo controllers. This information will always be listed on the back of the packaging.
- 2). Turn on your Nintendo Wii console and your television set.
- 3). Place a Wii game disc into the console. Instead of automatically loading the game screen like older Nintendo consoles, you will have to point the Wii-mote at your TV and select the logo for the game from the Wii's menu to play.
- 4). Experiment with motion controls. Many Wii games are controlled not just by the buttons you press on the Wii-mote, but by the way the Wii-mote moves in your hand as well. For example, to successfully play a bowling game, you would have to hold the Wii-mote in your hand and move it like you would if you were taking your turn in a real bowling alley.
- 5). Point the Wii-mote at your television set to control your on-screen cursor. The Wii-mote operates similarly to the mouse on a computer in that it controls an on-screen cursor for many games and menus. You must point the Wii-mote directly at the option you want to select in order to move the cursor on screen to that location.
