- Be aware of the springtime allergies you and your children normally deal with. Use non-drowsy allergy medication during the day, and if allergy symptoms get worse, contact your doctor.
- Spring is the time when insects and other venomous animals become more abundant. Always be on the watch for insects, spiders or other creatures that may bite and cause a medical emergency.
- During the springtime transition from winter weather to warmer weather, outside temperatures can fluctuate drastic. Pay attention to changes in temperature and weather conditions during the spring and help your children dress accordingly.
- If you have a backyard swimming pool that you open in the springtime, remind family and friends who use your pool about safety rules and any consequences that may come from not following the rules.
- Teach your children about toxic plants, such as poison ivy, which start growing in the springtime. Also teach them not to eat plants they are unfamiliar with.
