If you have ever golfed in the Philippines you know this can be true.
My Navy buddies and I were golfing near Subic Bay in the mid eighties.
I forget which hole we were on, but my friend Dave smashed his drive right down the middle of the fairway.
A beautiful shot that was at least 240 yards, As soon as he finished congratulating himself for such a hit, a little monkey jumped out of the trees and ran out on the fairway.
The monkey looked at Dave and then grabbed his ball and scampered back into the trees.
Dave was shocked and ran down the fairway after the monkey and his ball.
The rest of the foursome was just too busy laughing.
So the rest of us hit and then walked down to where Dave was still yelling at the monkey.
"Give me my ball you stupid little monkey!" right then the monkey threw the ball at Dave.
Dave looked at it and realized it wasn't his ball.
Apparently, the monkey made a practice of stealing peoples' golf balls, because it had a whole stash next to a tree.
The monkey proceeded to throw one ball after another at Dave, while he tried to avoid each projectile.
The caddies (a course requirement) came running over telling Dave to stop harassing the monkey.
All the while, Dave is running around with his hands over his head.
The monkey finally stopped throwing balls, and Dave just picked up one near him and said, "guess I'll take this one".
We played the rest of the round laughing.
