Making a Decision to Get to, "I DO!"

If you are thinking, "I can't decide!" or "Have I made the right choice?" or "I don't know what I like!" This is the article for you! When planning a wedding and reception for the most important day of your life, making a decision, and the RIGHT decision, may seem insurmountable.
Though, yes, some Brides have had an idea for their perfect wedding in their mind since they were little girls, not all do.
Do not get deterred if you are a new Bride and do not know exactly what you want for your most special day.
Some of the best and most "perfect" wedding themes, designs, or ideas come with time! Internet sites and Bridal magazines headlining, "New" or "popular" ideas for your Wedding day may add to your distress as every season these resources debut new ideas for "in style" weddings.
You begin getting nervous about making a decision.
You do not want to make the wrong decision.
As a result, you are paralyzed with no decision at all.
One way to tackle this indecisiveness is using the "back door approach.
" You may not know what you want, but you definitely know what you DO NOT want.
The "back-door" approach focuses on the process of elimination.
What to do first? Start going through magazines or look online.
I know this may seem challenging as there is going to be a wealth of information cast across your eagerly searching eyes.
You may ask yourself, "How do I choose?" Find the colors, styles, and ideas you definitely DO like and those you do NOT like.
Picture having a magazine with white post-its for "DO!" and yellow for "DON'T.
" Once you have made progress, begin cutting out those little details you DO like, such as flowers, a decoration, ribbon, a purse, a dress, etc.
and place them on a paper to make a wedding collage of ideas or "inspiration board" as it is often called.
This will begin your "back-door" approach.
Why mark pages or ideas with DON'T you may wonder? Well, you may be marking them with "DON'T" because these flowers or ideas may seem too expensive, elaborate, or difficult to duplicate.
However, you can have a great idea that doesn't necessarily cost a lot of money.
What you may find after talking to your wedding planner is that these ideas are possible! These "DON'T"s may turn into an "I DO!" Secondly, the ideas you DON'T like will act as references when you are making a final decision.
If you feel like you are missing something, go back to those "DON'T" marked pages.
Is there something that struck your eye? Can something be altered on one of those pages to conform to your new idea? Was the reason you marked "DON'T" because you only liked a tiny part of the picture? Michelle Gregory, Coordinator and Wedding Planner, tells her Bride's: "When you eliminate what you DON'T want, what you DO want will shine through.
" Thirdly, if you feel that the wedding collage is not giving you enough visual aid, get two poster boards.
Mark one with "DON'T" and another with "I DO.
" Get thumbtacks to place your ideas on either one of the boards.
When you are done, stand back and take a look.
Is there a theme or pattern emerging on your "I DO" board? If so, make a note.
Is there something on your "DON'T" board that makes sense with something on your "I DO" board? If not, take some time away from your idea boards, a few hours, a few days, a week, and then come back.
You may see something coming together that you did not before.
Once you do, you are on your way! Some of the greatest decisions you will every make take a little more time, so remember to be bold and be confident in your choice! Say, "I DO!!!!"
