- 1). Grasp the big grooves surrounding the nozzle and twist them counterclockwise to increase the radius or throw of the stream. The water range distance increases. Twist the grooves clockwise to decrease the throw. The water range distance decreases. If water escapes below the nozzle instead of through it, twist the nozzle clockwise until the leak stops.
- 2). Snap the supplied nozzle adapter to the top of the Nelson sprinkler nozzle to reduce a fully rotating sprinkler to a half rotation.
- 3). Grasp the nozzle by the smaller grooves and twist them counterclockwise to unscrew the nozzle if a taller spray is desired to reach over tall plants. Screw the new nozzle clockwise onto the riser. For an extra-tall spray, screw the long nozzles together and then screw them onto the riser.
- 1). Grasp the two arms of the Nelson traveling sprinkler and point them slightly downward to lower the water throw to a 15-foot surrounding area. Push the arms into rotation to confirm that they can still clear the sprinkler base. Grasp the arms of the sprinkler up to a 30-degree angle to cover an area of 55 feet. Point the arms into a horizontal line if it's windy.
- 2). Move the speed knob into the "High" position to lightly water the designated area. The sprinkler travels quickly. Move the speed knob to "Low" to water more thoroughly and move it to "Neutral" for normal watering conditions.
- 3). Lay out the connected hose in a path on your lawn that crosses the areas you wish to water. Make corners easily navigable and not sharp. Screw the hose into the back of the sprinkler and set the sprinkler on top of the hose.
