The Pine Rest Cabins, 1 mile south of Hill City on Highway 16-385, is within 10 miles of Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse Memorial and Custer State Park. On the former site of the Harney Peak Tin Mine in the 1880s near the Black Hills National Forest, it offers nine smoke-free cabins with modern amenities: Four 500-square-foot two-bedroom cabins, four 500-square-foot one-bedroom cabins, and one 750-square-foot one-bedroom cabin. Additional amenities include kitchenettes, queen-size beds, wireless Internet, and access to the sauna and outdoor grills. It is also near the Custer Golf Course, Mickelson Trail, and the historic 1880 train rides that depart from Hill City.

The cabins sleep up to five people while the three-bedroom units have a capacity of up to 10 people. It is conveniently near the Black Hills Central Railroad with the 1880 Train Ride and walking distance to trout fishing and hunting.
