1973 Dodge Adventurer Specifications

    • The Dodge Adventurer was considered a "lifestyle pickup," or a truck intended more for personal use rather than a heavy work vehicle. It was part of the D series that Dodge produced. D series trucks would later be renamed the Dodge Ram. The 1973 Adventurer was part of the third generation of Dodge trucks.

    Engine

    • The Adventurer featured three- and four-speed manual transmissions or a three-speed automatic transmission. Drivers could choose engine options ranging from a 225 cubic inch V6 up to a 400 cubic inch V8 engine.

    Dimensions

    • The wheelbase measured 115 inches for the short bed version and 131 inches for the long bed version. The Adventurer 100 was considered a half-ton truck. The Adventurer 200 was a three-quarters ton truck. Trim levels were Custom Adventurer, Adventurer Sport and Adventurer SE.

    Production

    • The Vehicle Identification Number for the Adventurer was on a plate on the rear of the driver's side door. Dodge introduced the club cab in 1973, and the option was available on the Adventurer. It added 1.5 feet of space behind the cab's seats. It was not the same as a crew cab, which was larger. A club cab still required just the two doors on the truck, while a crew cab required four doors.

    Features

    • Features on the Adventurer included power steering, independent front suspension, pocketed taillights, heavy-duty door hinges, power brakes and air-conditioning. The Adventurer featured all-vinyl, foam-padded bucket seats. Interior colors included black, blue, green or tan. The truck featured a full-width rear window to allow for maximum visibility for the driver. The windshield was also tilted inward at the bottom to help reduce headlight glare.
