Can Native Frangipani Trees Be Grown From Seeds?

    Description

    • Frangipani flowers produce two brown or brownish-red seed pods, around 7 inches in length. The pod contains from 20 to 60 seeds with wings. The seed pods usually take eight months to mature, typically in the spring.

    Planting

    • When the seed pod splits open, collect the seeds. Plant the seeds shallowly in seed trays with damp seed starter soil. The seeds germinate in around two weeks.

    Maturity

    • Frangipani plants grown from seeds typically do not reach maturity for three to four years, according to the University of Florida. Once mature, the plants will flower.

    Flowers

    • In most cases, frangipani seeds produce plants with flowers that resemble the parent plant. However, because the source of the pollinating plant is usually unknown, seeds can sometimes produce flowers that are different.
