- 1). Contact the local sheriff or law enforcement office in your area and ask for the "Warrants" department. Most agencies require the suspect's full name, warrant number, Social Security number or other identifying information.
- 2). Access the agency's official website and locate the "Active Warrants" section of the site. Each law enforcement agency displays warrant information differently.
- 3). Enter the suspect's full name, race, date of birth and any other information into the search warrant system. Click "Search" or "Submit" to view the search results, which ordinarily includes data such as the suspect's full name and offense. If you recognize a suspect, some websites display a "Contact Us" or "Report Information" link, which allows citizens to report information, which could lead to the arrest of the individual.
- 4). Locate the individual's name on the agency's active warrants web page. Some agencies list names alphabetically, by last name first. Some agencies update these lists daily, while others update lists periodically.
