A Sun-Filled Holiday in Majorca in Spain

Majorca is a Spanish island in the Mediterranean Sea. The island is especially popular with the Europeans who make a beeline to its beaches to soak up the sun and escape the cold winters back home. While the beach season is from May to October, the island remains popular year round. July and August are the hottest months. Majorca is especially beautiful during the spring and autumn months and is great for outdoor activities both on land and sea.
You can start your sightseeing session by exploring the Serra de Tramuntana Mountain range. The unique agricultural techniques practiced on the steep slopes have ensured this range the UNESCO World Heritage Site recognition. The mountain range is best explored on foot and by bike.
Majorca's capital city, Palma, has everything to keep the visitors happy from cafes and tapas bars and crafts shops. For sightseeing, you can visit the magnificent cathedral, La Seu. The building looks all the more impressive from the sea.
Majorca also promises a thriving art scene with several museums and galleries. You can check out Es Baluard, a contemporary art museum as well as March Foundation and the Pilar and Joan Miro Foundation. There is also an aquarium where you can get close to sharks.
From Palma you can take a wooden train to the scenic town of Soller. The beautiful route makes its way through tunnels cut through Serra de Trmuntana Mountain range. The landscape of olive groves and orchards make the drive all the more mesmerizing. The town has several Art Naveau houses and shops. You can also shop in the upmarket craft shops.
In the beautiful village of Dela you can see the house of the famous poet, novelist and historian, Robert Graves. The rooms are kept in much of the same way as they were when he was living there. After exploring the house, you can spend some time in the garden and then go to the nearby beach for lunch or a refreshing dip.
Majora also has a very scenic wine route. You can go to the village of Binissalem to the north east of Palma. This is the region where most of the wineries are found. Although most wineries are open to visitors, it is advisable to call ahead of the visit.
The beach holiday is from May to October but it is during the spring and autumn months that the island is at its prettiest best. During the winter months, the crowds are less and you can indulge in great outdoor activities. The warm climate of the island is the main attraction and many Europeans have their second homes here. Then there are others who come here for an extended stay and prefer to stay in Spain villas that serve as their home away from home, giving them all the privacy they need and keeping costs in check.
