• Incorporated in 1900, Hillsville, Virginia, is approximately 51 miles northeast of Winston-Salem, North Carolina. For tourists, the Hillsville area is home to a variety of attractions and annual events such as the Carroll County Historical Museum and the Flea Market and Gun Show. Visitors to the Hillsville area have a number of accommodations to choose from, including campgrounds. These privately-owned facilities offer campsites for both RVs and tents as well as numerous amenities.
  
  

Carrollwood Campground

• Located in nearby Woodlawn, Carrollwood Campground is approximately 3.5 miles from Hillsville (around six minutes by automobile). The camp consists of 40 campsites for tents and 80 sites for recreational vehicles. Around two-thirds of the RV sites feature a specialized design that allows you to pull your vehicle into the space rather than backing into the spot. All of the lots measure 21 feet by 50 feet in size. Thirty-two lots have full electric, water and sewage hook-ups, and the remaining lots feature water and electricity connections only. Some of the tent sites offer electric hook-ups. On-site amenities include restrooms, showers, a waste dump and laundry facilities. The camp operates a small store that sells basic groceries, firewood, live bait and RV supplies. Carollwood Fish Lake is adjacent to the campground for freshwater fishing. The park also has horseshoe pits, a playground and an indoor game room with pool tables and video games. The campground is open all year, but some amenities and activities may not be available at certain times of year.

Lake Ridge RV Resort

• Open year-round, Lake Ridge RV Resort offers 20 rental cabins, four spots for camping in tents with no connections and 221 recreational vehicle campsites. The camp has a mix of pull-through spaces that measure 40 feet by 70 feet in size and back-ins that measure 24 feet by 50 feet. Electric and water hook-ups are available throughout the park and approximately half of the majority of the spaces also offer sewage connections. Campsites also feature free connections for wired and modem Internet and wireless Internet service is accessible throughout the park. The campground provides restrooms, showers, a waste dump, laundry facilities and a public telephone. An on-site store sells groceries, RV supplies, propane and firewood and has an ATM for campers' convenience. A restaurant is also located on the property. Four Acre Lake is located on the property for fishing and boating, and the campground has boat rentals available for guests. The park also features two heated swimming pools with 400-foot water slides, a miniature golf course, basketball courts, hayrides, horseshoe pits, a playground and a game room.

Fancy Gap KOA

• Situated in Fancy Gap, the Fancy Gap KOA is around 12.1 miles from Hillsville (about 20 minutes by automobile). The campground has three cabins, six primitive tent sites with no connections and 84 spaces for recreational vehicles. Twenty of the RV sites are pull-throughs, and the largest of the spots can accommodate vehicles up to 70 feet in length. Full electric, water and sewage hook-ups are available at every site as well as cable television connections. Guests can access free wireless Internet throughout the park and can use the campground's showers, restrooms, waste dump and laundry room. Fancy Gap KOA has a small store that sells groceries, RV supplies, propane and firewood. For fishing, Fox Trail Pond is on-site, and the campground rents paddleboats to guests for use on the pond. The campground has an outdoor swimming pool available from mid-May through mid-September. A game room and playground are also located on the property. Fancy Gap KOA is open from March through mid-November.
