VocabularyWe will learn about the bar lines and measures. Bar lines are the vertical lines you see on a music staff which divides the staff into measures. Inside a measure there are notes and rests corresponding to the number of beats determined by a time signature. We will learn about time signatures on the next lesson.

  1. Label the staff. Draw a music staff on the board and ask student to label it. You can leave out the bar lines and ask student to divide the staff into measures using bar lines. You can also make a music staff out of felt or cardboard and write the words on felt or cardboard paper. Put sticky tape on the back and the students will then label the staff by taping the corresponding words next to it.
