How to Replace a Snowblower Belt

    • 1). Turn off the engine and detach the spark plug wire. Unscrew the belt cover located on the side of the snow thrower. Place the screws in the upturned belt cover and set aside in a safe place.

    • 2). Raise the round-shaped idler pulley and begin removing the old belt from underneath the pulley.

Continue removing the belt by pulling it away from the engine, auger pulley, rotor pulleys and brake arm.

    • 3). Thread the new belt under the brake arm, around the rotor pulleys, auger pulley and the brake pulley. Hold the new belt in one hand and lift the idler pulley with the other hand in order to thread the new belt beneath it. Allow the idler pulley to put tension on the new belt.

    • 4). Reinstall the belt cover and tighten the screws into place. Attach the spark plug wire. Discard the old belt.
